Day 5: Waiting for Santa

Honestly, I think this one would work even better if you had someone in some santa costume standing just on the edge of the frame…. not so you can see the whole santa… just a boot or a leg would tell the story if the dog is looking up wondering who this magical man is.

As it is, I didn’t have a Santa handy so I just added in some magic of my own using a Christmas overlay from Etsy.

Let's Talk "Chin Down"

I love the pensive “chin down” pose here, with Journey looking up to where Santa could be coming from.

In the Learning Journey, we have a full lesson on several different methods to teach this trick, from a chin target, to free shaping, to using a low table!

Surprisingly, using the low table seemed to work best! Try it! Get a low table or chair and sit opposite your dog. If they lean forward over the table, click and reward ON the table, where you want their chin to end up.

Sometimes you need to wait a little while but usually they’ll lean forward, or even just rest their chin on the table waiting to see what happens next!

Did you try it? Let me know in the comments below!
